The Makali Family with Pastor Smoke Kanipe, 1995

Pastor William Makali, founder, is a native of Tanzania. He and his wife Martha made the sacrifice of leaving their country to come to the United States for formal education in hopes of returning to improve the lives of those around their home within the Yulansoni Village in Tanzania. While in the United States, William and Martha took many odd jobs to make ends meet and in hard times, relied on the support and prayers of new American friends. Pastor C. E. "Smoke" Kanipe, a United Methodist minister in South Carolina, helped William earn income through employment at Advent United Methodist Church. Along the way, Pastor Kanipe was also able to provide opportunities for William to lead worship and practice his preaching skills. In time, William earned his Masters of Divinity degree at Erskine Theological Seminary in Due West, South Carolina and with an initial donation of $5000 from Advent UMC, returned to his native land to begin this mission in 1995.

The Clinic in 2004

In order to spread the word of Christ throughout this impoverished area, Pastor Makali understood that addressing the physical needs of the people must come first. The hungry or the unhealthy simply cannot welcome the Word into their heart. Today, thousands walk to the FDM Clinic to receive medical attention. Most recently, an “over-night” Ward was completed so the very sick and those requiring observation don’t have to travel away at the close of day

Jerry Warren (pictured here with Pastor Makali) established FDM USA in 2004

Inspired by a presentation at Advent United Methodist Church and as a Mission Committee member, Jerry Warren traveled along with others in 2002 to learn more about Pastor Makali’s work and a most unique friendship transpired. For more than a decade, Jerry has been working in support of Pastor William and took it upon himself to create a 501c3 public charity in the USA called Full Dimension Ministry USA. This significant development in the life of FDM offered a designated source of donations and support. Jerry soon established a governing board and continues to work on behalf the organization!
